Today we made a cabbage indicator. It tells you whether something an acid, base or is neutral. Acidy things are burny. We put different household items into the indicator and looked to see if it changed colour. We found out that lemonade and orange were acids. Bicarbonate of soda and toothpaste were bases. We also found out that if you put a base (bicarbonate of soda) into an acid (lemonade) the indicator turns back to purple (neutral). Some of the colours were cool: purple, blue, violet, green and red.
